Under the supervision of the Department of Parks and Wildlife, an auction event for the 2025–26 trophy hunting season was organized, attracting participation from national and international outfitters associated with hunting. A large number of representatives from community-controlled areas of Gilgit-Baltistan also attended the event.
During the auction, several wild animals from community-controlled hunting areas in Gilgit-Baltistan were presented for hunting — including Pakistan’s national animal, the Markhor, as well as Ibex and Blue Sheep.
A record-breaking bid in Pakistan’s history was placed for the hunting of the Markhor, with a staggering USD 370,000 (approximately PKR 105 million) offered by a company named Zoom Hunting.
The second-highest bid was also for a Markhor in the Tangir-Khunbari area, reaching USD 286,000, secured by a company named Wild Hunting.
The third-highest bid, also for a Markhor in the Tangir area, was USD 240,000, made by Shikar Safari.
The Ibex was auctioned for approximately USD 14,000.
It is worth noting that 80% of the revenue generated from trophy hunting is given to local communities, while the remaining 20% is deposited into the government treasury.
