CBN247 :

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Wildlife Department has generated more than US $1.9 million (PKR 542.7 million) through its Trophy Hunting Program 2026, officials said on Tuesday.

The department reported that the earnings came from four exportable markhor permits worth $946,000, nine non-exportable markhor permits worth $553,300, 20 non-exportable ibex permits worth $16,042, and six non-exportable grey goral permits worth $398,500.

Officials said the program has become a model for sustainable wildlife conservation in KP. A large share of the revenue is distributed among local communities living near wildlife habitats, encouraging them to protect endangered species while benefiting economically.

The initiative has helped curb illegal hunting, created livelihood opportunities, and promoted eco-tourism in the province.

According to the department, the program’s success highlights KP’s efforts to balance conservation with community development, making it a recognized global leader in community-based trophy hunting.
