Takht Bhai World Heritage Site Illuminated with Cascades of Light

CBN247 :

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has illuminated the historic Buddhist monastic complex of Takht Bhai, giving the UNESCO World Heritage Site a new cultural and touristic dimension.

Perched on the rugged hills of Mardan, the centuries-old archaeological site now gleams under a modern lighting system installed through the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE), supported by the World Bank. Officials say the initiative will enhance the site’s global recognition while attracting both tourists and researchers.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur said the provincial government was committed to reviving tourism and restoring the glory of the region’s cultural heritage. He noted that projects like the Takht Bhai illumination would play a central role in strengthening the local economy.

Secretary of Culture, Tourism, Archaeology and Museums, Dr. Abdul Samad, described the project as a tribute to history and a promise to the future. “This light proclaims that the spirit of history never fades; it simply seeks new colors and new melodies,” he remarked while addressing media.

Officials believe the lighting of Takht Bhai will not only showcase the grandeur of the site to international visitors but also provide new opportunities for research and cultural exchange.
