Advisor on Health Ehtesham Ali and Minister for Public Health, Pakhtun Yar, officially inaugurated the latest anti-polio campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The launch event also saw Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah and Health Secretary Shahidullah administering polio drops to children as part of the campaign’s symbolic start.
The five-day immunization drive will be conducted across 36 districts of the province, while in Peshawar and Khyber districts, the campaign will extend to seven days. During this period, over 6.53 million children are expected to receive the oral polio vaccine.
A total of 35,500 vaccination teams have been formed to carry out the campaign effectively. Notably, polio vaccination efforts have resumed in South Waziristan after a two-year gap, marking a significant step in reaching previously inaccessible areas.
Speaking to the media, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah urged the media to play an active role in raising awareness about polio eradication. He emphasized the importance of conveying to parents that polio drops are vital for ensuring a safe and healthy future for their children.
