In connection with the attack on Rana Sanaullah’s residence, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Faisalabad, Punjab, has sentenced 75 individuals — including senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) — to prison terms over the events of May 9.
According to reports, out of the total 109 accused in the case, the court has acquitted 34 individuals.
Among the PTI leaders who have been sentenced are Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, Kanwal Shauzab, Ahmad Chattha, Rai Hassan Nawaz, Ansar Iqbal, and Bilal Ejaz. These 59 individuals have each been given 10-year prison sentences.
It is stated that another 16 individuals in the case have been sentenced to 3 years in prison each.
PTI has reacted to the court’s decision by calling the punishments an act of “injustice”.
